Hi! I’m Allie. I am a journalist with years of versatile newsroom experience.

As an economy reporter at Business Insider, I write about how policy shapes everyday life. Lately, my coverage has focused on housing and affordability in America’s biggest cities. My ongoing project — called “Cost of the City” — is a deep dive into Mayor Zohran Mamdani’s agenda and life in New York. I previously worked on a yearlong investigation into the impact of rising cancer cases on young adults, and a series about retirees’ reflections on money and loneliness. I also cover the Federal Reserve.

I am is a frequent guest on various TV and radio programs and a contributor to Business Insider’s Big Business and quicksplainer video series. My work has been nominated for — and won — top business and healthcare reporting awards.

Before joining Business Insider, I covered breaking news at The Dallas Morning News and wrote and edited for The Trace. I’m an alum of The University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill, and grew up in Denver, Colorado. Currently, I am based in New York City.
